To Learn … “They Have, But We Have”

Ever stop yourself halfway through the sentence, “When I was your age…”? You may think your girls will roll their eyes (and okay, they still might), but it can be really fun to share this kinda stuff with them! I say make a game out of it. What do your girls have nowadays that we had a different version of back in the day? Think of it as a fun comparison of our two generations. And maybe some quality time with your girl… who’ll make fun of you and/or ask you what the heck you’re talking about. Here are some examples – I’ll fill in the first two for you!

They have the Keeping Up With the Kardashians but we have… Dynasty and Dallas (and who did Shoot JR? I can’t remember …)

They have tech savvy but we have… Hard-earned wisdom!

They have music festivals but we have…

They have iPhones but we have…

They have texting but we have…

They have video chatting (FaceTime, House Party, ooVoo) but we have…

Spark the Conversation: Talking through this list and laughing about it with your girl is exactly what your conversation needs! Even she’s totally baffled by what was cool back when we were younger, you can fill in the blanks and give her some throwback knowledge! She’ll learn a little about life when you were her age. Expect confused giggles and multiple exclamations of “Gosh, I’m glad I wasn’t you!” or “I’m so glad I didn’t live back then!”
